British Movie Recommendations

Watching movies is an excellent way to practise your listening skills. I recommend watching a movie in English that you've already seen in your own language. First, you can watch it with English subtitles, then you can progress to no subtitles!

I must confess that I don't often watch British movies as I tend to watch more American ones. However, if you're specifically looking for British movie recommendations then check out these:

  • The Harry Potter movies are excellent. There are eight movies so that will keep you busy!

  • Me Before You is a lovely, thought-provoking movie about a young woman who begins work for a man and gets to know him.

  • Paddington is a children's movie but I really loved it and it's very typically British.

  • I enjoyed Atonement which is a period drama set in WW2.

  • If you like zombie movies like me, you might like 28 Days Later. I loved this one. There's also a really cool scene at the beginning where Central London is totally empty. You can see that scene here.
